Whoa! I have been gone for a minute!  I just saw that my last blog was almost 3 weeks ago.  I’m sorry guys, life got BUSY.  If you follow along over on social, you probably know all the details but let’s skip past all that here and take a look at the cutest gift or home idea, DIY sports coasters.  That’s right, you can keep your tables safe with your favorite team all for a fraction of the price.

Pretty darn cute right? I love a good art project (well one that I can actually do) it kind of soothes me.  I’d heard of making coasters like these with pictures for a wedding or birthday gift but I figured why not make em sporty?! And tuns out they’re really easy.  Here’s what you’ll need.

What You Need for DIY Sports Coasters

Like I said, I love a DIY project, but I don’t want anything too difficult.  Here’s how easy these coasters are.

Step 1:  Use the gorilla glue or a hot glue gun to adhere the cork coasters to the bottoms of the tiles.  This way they won’t scratch up your table. Let them dry.

Step 2:  Place your decals or ticket stubs or whatever FLAT memorabilia you want onto the top of the tiles.  I used decals.  Then brush a coat of Modge Podge using the foam brush all over the top of the coaster alternating directions.  Let it dry completely, then repeat this for 3-5 coats.

Step 3: Once you have the desired look and even layers on the coaster, use the Polycrylic sealant by brushing one coat on top.

That’s it.  You may want to sand down any edges that form that may be rough or uneven with a little piece of sand paper but other than that, that’s it.

I told you it was easy peasy!  This would be such a cute gift for a hostess or a coworker, heck it would be a lovely gift for Father’s Day coming up too.  I made these for myself LOL so you can always treat yourself as well.

I hope you give this one a try, comment and tell me what you did and how they turned out!  Have a great week everyone.  I’m headed to the Byron Nelson this weekend you can check out my post from last year on the golf tournament here.  I’m not quite sure what I’ll be wearing this year but be sure to follow along on Instagram @thesportsbrat!
