The 2021 Women’s College World Series starts on Thursday you most definitely need to watch. Not only is it important to be reminded that softball will be back in the Olympics this summer, but college’s best softball programs will be putting on their annual showcase of future Softball stars in the WCWS. Softball was also featured on ABC for the first time ever this past weekend. This is a big win for the sport, and long overdue! Before I get into what to watch for and a little back ground on each program, I must share that it is a bucket list item for me to go to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City. I was planning to attend this year but with COVID restrictions putting fan attendance up in the air until recently, I decided to put it off until next summer. Eventually, I will get back to Oklahoma City to watch the ladies play. Okay, let’s talk about the tournament.

Who to Watch

Oklahoma – Boomer Sooner! My personal favorite, has won it all four times. They last played for the championship in 2019 against UCLA. UCLA came out on top in this match up. It is also good to know that OU plays right down the road in Norman so yes, the crowd is very pro OU. Also, Oklahoma State will be making an appearance in the WCWS and could potentially face OU. This will be fun for the crowd. Oklahoma faces James Madison in round 1. Oklahoma Sate faces Georgia.

UCLA – UCLA is a powerhouse when it comes to softball. If you didn’t know, the Bruins have 13 national titles. So. Yeah. That’s all you need to know

Who Am I Rooting For?

Well, *ahem*, Patty Gasso and the Sooners, of course! Of course I’m a bit biased as I’m an alum, but this team has scored 140-something home runs this season, and score often, so there’s that! Also, I want to see them bounce back after losing that 2019 championship game.

Will you be watching? I hope you do!
