Ahhh Monday. Over the weekend I was scrolling through Instagram and saw so many people heading to Florida and Arizona. That can only mean one thing, baseball is coming. Today I got an alert on my phone that Aaron Judge took BP today. Again – baseball is not only coming, the boys are working out. This is a week that baseball fans everywhere have been waiting for. It seems as though the Red Sox were just crowned World Series Champs, but the past few months I have been anxiously awaiting for baseball to kick back up again. So much excitement is hanging over this season. All off season we have been trying to figure out where Bryce and Manny will go. New York? Philly? Chicago? Who knows. But honestly, it’s been fun and some what exhausting, trying to crack the code on when their decisions would be made. Manny Machado originally said his decision would be made in the new year. Many expected an announcement New Year’s Eve or even New Year’s Day, but here we are almost to mid February (at the time this was written) and neither Bryce nor Manny have made their announcements. Sigh… I need them to come on with it. I know it’s Valentine’s week and all, but I’m over the conversation hearts and dinner plans. Let’s talk about something I really wanna talk about – baseball. Here are a few things I’m looking forward to watching and seeing with my own eyes…

Fenway Park – Yes, you read that correctly. I’m heading to Boston at the end of April and it’s going to be a good time. No, the Yankees aren’t playing BUT I will get to see the Rays try their hand at beating the reining champs. I can’t wait to eat all of the food and see the Green Monster for myself. Parts of me wishes this was a Rivalry game but I want to enjoy myself and enjoy the atmosphere in a less hostile way.

The Shift – Eye roll. End of story.

Matt Kemp with the Reds – Not going to lie, I was hoping Kemp would finish out his career in LA considering that’s where he started (and played well last season, too), so I’m interested to see how this pans out.

Manny and Bryce with their new teams? – Considering at publication it was assumed that both Manny Machado and Bryce Harper would go on to new teams, I am curious to see how they fair in their new spots. Am I the only one that was extremely over the hype here? I mean after January passed, I stopped caring as to where they would end up. I mean, come on. All the memes of Bryce and Manny in various uniforms were fun to look at until it went on for months and I was over it. At this point who cares?! It’s a little anti climatic. It seems like all the big markets are out – unless Boston or New York come out of nowhere but considering both Boston and New York are set in the outfield, and pretty good to go at short or wherever Manny would play, that seems unlikely.

Home Run Derby – I don’t really care for the actual All Star Game, but Home Run Derby is a must watch for me. I’m just curious to see who will participate. Can we get Giancarlo Stanton back? Will Bryce Harper try to defend his title?

CC Sabathia – I have to highlight something I am not really looking forward to and that is CC Sabathia’s retirement. Literally, with CC’s impending exit at the end of the 2019 season, I will have officially seen every Yankee I grew up watching, retire. While CC and And ARod came later, I quickly adopted them both and really don’t acknowledge the fact that they were with other organizations previously. As far as I’m concerned, they’re life long Yankees and any team that came before doesn’t matter **hair flip**. Back to CC, I’m going to miss him. Also I can’t forget that Brett Gardner also only has a one year deal. If he retires or goes somewhere else, he will greatly be missed as well. Yes, this also means my favorite baby bombers will officially be the majority of the veterans on the team. Y’all know I love me some Judge and Stanton and Hicks (Yankees’ outfield is pretty sexy). Anyway, please don’t go…

My Favorite Female Hosts on TV – So I have some favorite sports reporters but I have to highlight my favorite ladies. Lauren Shehadi, Kelly Nash and Meredith Marakovits are some of my favorites. Really I just wanna snatch the mic from them and be them. I wonder if one of them will have lunch with me when I’m in and out of New York this summer?

Anyway, it’s only February 11th. It’s a long season, and there is so much I’m looking forward to. You tell me…what are you excited for?

XOXO
