After Christmas, I had the opportunity to go to the Texas Bowl in Houston. Of course I used this opportunity to tailgate before the game with my friends. For about a week, I drove around a 2019 Toyota Highlander Hybrid Limited and I was so sad when I had to give it back! It got amazing gas mileage and considering Houston is more spread out than most major cities and I was driving all over, this was definitely a good thing. Not only was the Hybrid fuel efficient, has my favorite XM satellite radio, and a number of other luxury features, the vehicle was even better for tailgating.

Spacious! That’s the first word that comes to mind when I think of the interior of the Highlander. Sometimes SUVs can be too big and bulky despite having all the space, but the Highlander has all the space without being huge. Which is great for me (I drive a small sedan everyday). There was enough space for me to set up all of the food, friends could sit in the car and not feel on top of each other, and have a good time. I even carried several boxes to be shipped off at the post office. The back can either be a third row or put down to have that extra cargo space. If you are someone who likes midsize SUVs and tailgating, I definitely recommend the Highlander Limited Hybrid. The fuel efficiency and space will definitely fit the needs of someone who has a lot to carry all around town.

Quick Tips: What Makes For a Fun and Easy Tailgate? Here are some of my quick an easy tailgate needs if I’m pressed for time and don’t have the energy to prep anything.

  1. Main course – Jersey Mike’s Sandwiches: Remember my last post on Jersey Mike’s subs? Yeah, they are still a hit with my gang.
  2. Sides – CHIPS! Who doesn’t love chips. I grabbed three big bags and everyone just went for it.
  3. Something Sweet – Tiff’s Treats is definitely the way to go. One the cookies are amazing and two, the cookies are amazing.
  4. Cold Ones – I like to mix it up to cover all the bases. Beer (of course) like 8th Wonder’s Dome Foam (for my Houston folks), All Day Rose for the classy girls, sparkling water for those that don’t drink and everyone is happy!

Planning a tailgate soon? What are your go to foods and what do you tailgate in? Or do you opt for a tent? Let me know!

Until next time!
