Okay, what the hell? What is it with January that it always feels like it’s four months long? January, you raggedy hoe. Okay, sorry, I had to get it out. But honestly, I started the month strong, getting workouts in on the peloton and my Alexia Clark app and then, as quickly as I got on the wagon, I jumped right on off. The wagon started sputtering and running a muck and I was down for the count for a bout a week. I know resolutions are supposed to be a year long process but I like to see progress in the first month. Here is and update on how each category is doing.

Weight Loss

Don’t ask. I bought a FitTrak scale recently and I think that is helping me really prioritize how I go about this weight loss journey. The FitTrak scale tells you more than you want to know but I will go into depth on that in a another post. I haven’t lost any weight, but I am making progress towards the direction I want to go. Meal prepping is helping the most and I am doing significantly better with not going through the drive thru for every other meal. Except the weekends. Send help on the weekends. But, as we all know, this is a marathon not a sprint.

Money

Did you see I launched a new money series? I have begun a monthly check in, The Money Series (clever, huh?) where I examine exactly what I spent my money on in 2020 and you guys, my first “OMG, wtf” moment was Starbucks. Check out the first installment of the Money Series to read more about it here. Each month I will examine an area where I spent way more money than any sane person (eep) would. Needless to say, I had a huge cut back in the Starbucks department this month so for that, the money category was pretty successful.

Going Out

Okay, did we forget we’re in the middle of a pandemic? My idea of going out these days is going to the restaurant to pick up my to go order rather than DoorDash. I mean, I need to get out and get some fresh air. SMH. This one is going to have to be more of an idea rather than an accomplishment. I have every intention to travel and “get out there” this year, but I really think, if we’re being realistic, this one is going to take a while. Also dating apps….don’t get me started. I officially hate them. More on that at another time.

January was long and arduous, per usual, but I think February will be better. Don’t worry y’all, if you fell off your resolutions wagon in January, join me and make February the fresh start we all need.
