Citi Field. I can’t believe I’m just getting around to doing a Mets gameday guide. This was my third trip to Citi Field and well, here we are. It was also brought to my attention that I’ve yet to do one for the Bronx. Obviously I’ve been slacking. I’ll either get to Yankee Stadium later on this off season, or I’ll make it first on next season’s to do list. Anyway, let’s get to Flushing, shall we?

Most recently I went to Citi Field and caught the September 10 matchup of the Subway Series. Unfortunately, my team got demolished. Like obliterated. It was embarrassing. But Aaron Judge was in front of me the whole time (which usually when I have seats in the outfield, he’s either on a rest day, or DHing, so the awful loss made it bearable). If you are new to my baseball travels, I love to sit in the outfield. I don’t know what it is, but I like seeing the ballpark from the outfield view. Right field to be exact.

The Stadium

Citi Field in on my list of beautiful stadiums. Yes, this Yankees fan called the home of the Mets, “beautiful”. If you’ve never been to Citi Field and you’re looking to catch your team on the road, it’s a fan friendly ballpark and always a good time. The set up of the ball park is really a treat as well. When you enter, you go up the escalator to the main concourse. Just like every other ballpark out there there are loads of food options and then in the outfield, there’s even more to see – Shake Shack, bars and more! Next time I go to Citi Field, I will have to try the Polar Burger in section 102. Usually I grab a hot dog or chicken tenders, but I’ve heard about the Polar Burger and I definitely want to try it! Also if you have time, schedule a stadium tour!

How to Get There

Getting to Citi Field is pretty easy, even though it may seem far away. From the Times Square area, I take the train, but an Uber will run you $30+ each way. For a $1.25 fare each way, take the W train uptown to Astoria and transfer to the 7. Ride the 7 to Mets-Willets Point. Or just follow the Mets jerseys. You won’t get lost.

Where to Stay

I have stayed in multiple hotels in Manhattan when going to Citi Field. I have stayed at the Dream Hotel Midtown, and W Times Square. The W is located right in the heart of Times Square (you have immediate access to the Ferris wheel on Broadway, and the the train is right there. Honestly you can stay anywhere in the city.

Instagrammable Spots

Citi Field has a few iconic spots where you definitely want to snap a photo. Some of my favorites include:
