The official countdown to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil is nearing. The tournament kicks off on June 14th. For those of you who do not know what the World Cup is, allow us to explain. It’s an International soccer tournament held every 4 years (similarly to the Olympics). Also, similar to the Olympics, the tourney consists of teams representing each nation. It’s another opportunity to root for your country or to root for your heritage or, as I do it, your favorite team to watch- Go España!
It’s also important to note that the men’s and women’s tournaments do not fall in the same year, so just to clarify; this is the Men’s tourney. You’ll be able to root for your ladies of choice next year when the tourney is hosted in Canada.
Now, you may be wondering why I got on the subject of futbol today and that, my friends, is due to Nike’s new commercial. There’s something about it that makes you either wanna lace up your boots and take to the field or grab a cold one and head to the couch for the game.
