Rabbit, Rabbit!! It’s March 1st!  February was jam-packed with sporting events that it just flew by.  Brace yourselves because March brings about the same thrill and excitement (MARCH MADNESS).  Here’s our March Watch List.

Saturday March 1st:

NHL Stadium Series: Pittsburgh Penguins vs. Chicago Blackhawks

I’m almost certain you’ve taken notice when the always-indoor NHL takes to outdoor locales like Chicago Bears home, Soldier Field.  The National Hockey League holds outdoor games under three brands: the Heritage Classic, Winter Classic, and Stadium Series.  This leg of the Stadium Series starts at 8PM EST on NBC.

Sunday March 2nd:

NHL Heritage Classic: Ottawa Senators vs. Vancouver Canucks

The Heritage Classic has been held twice and has thus far featured match-ups between Canadian teams. The 2003 Heritage Classic between the Edmonton Oilers and Montreal Canadiens was the first outdoor regular season game in NHL history and led to the annual Winter Classic, held on New Year’s Day in the United States. This is the third Heritage Classic.  The puck will drop at 4PM EST at BC Place Stadium on NBCSN.

Saturday March 8th:

MLS Regular Season Starts:

The first game of the MLS regular season kicks off at 3PM EST at Century Link Field where Seattle hosts Kansas City.  There are other games that day; you can click here for the schedule.

Sunday March 9th:

LA Marathon:

Now unless you’re a running aficionado, I really don’t recommend tuning in, but if you’re an LA resident make sure you BOLD this in your calendar.  It is worse than Carmageddon.

Sunday March 16th:

Selection Sunday:

The selection for the 2014 NCAA men’s basketball tournament will be announced on this day.  You can tune in at 6PM EST on CBS.

Tuesday March 18th through Monday April 7th:

MARCH MADNESS:

It’s that time!  The nation’s best 64 men’s NCAA basketball teams battle each other to be crowned the BEST.  Even if you don’t like basketball, there is so much drama and excitement in this tournament.  There are upsets, buzzer-beater wins, impressive dunks and an insane “leave it all on the court” ever game mentality.  We will have updates throughout the tourney.  The bracket has not been announced yet but you can check in here for the schedule.

Saturday March 22nd through Tuesday April 8th:

Women’s NCAA March Madness tournament:

The boys aren’t the only ones who get mad in March.  You can tune in to see the ladies battle it out as well.  Here is that schedule.

Sunday March 30th:

MLB Opening Night:

The first game of the regular season starts with the San Diego Padres hosting the LA Dodgers at 8:05PM EST on ESPN.

World Figure Skating Championships:

If you did not get enough of figure skating last month, then tune in for some rematches and second chances as the skaters compete in Saitama, Japan.  Click here for more information.

Monday March 31st:

MLB Opening Day:

The (very long) regular season for the MLB officially beings with a plethora of games.  You can tune in here for the schedule.

Also notable:

Wednesday March 5th is the NHL trade deadline.
