We’re a day late BUT ahh Summer is officially upon us.  We’ve got another jam-packed month in sports.  So don’t get caught off-guard if your man friend wants to stay inside and watch the game rather than head to the beach.  Here’s our June watch list.

Wednesday June 4th:

NHL Stanley Cup Finals:

Game 1 of the NHL Stanley Cup finals starts Wednesday at 8PM EST on NBC when the LA Kings take on the NY Rangers.  The Kings won the Stanley Cup in 2012 and the Rangers, on the other hand, haven’t won one since the 1993-94 season.  You can check the schedule here.  This should be good, so stay tuned.

Thursday June 5th:

NBA Finals:

That’s right, its NBA finals time!! This year the Miami heat have made their way into an exclusive club that only 3 teams have ever joined- they’ve made the finals 4 years in a row!  The Boston Celtics did it from 1957-1966, then again in 1984-87 and the Lakers did it from 1982-1985.  If you’re not a Heat fan (and many of you are not) then keep your good vibes going toward the San Antonio Spurs.   This NBA Final is a rematch from last year.  Just like they playoff format, whoever gets to 4 wins first will be the 2014 NBA champs.  Keep an eye here  for the schedule.

X Games Austin:

If you’re more into action sports then make sure you tune into the X Games this year as they kick off in Austin on Thursday. You can check here for the schedule of events.

Saturday June 7th:

Belmont Stakes:

It’s the final race in the Triple Crown. California Chrome will try and win the Belmont Stakes, which would make him horse racing’s first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.

The Belmont is the longest of the three-race series, which spans five weeks. California Chrome started off with a victory in the 1 ¼-mile Kentucky Derby on May 3 and followed it up with a win in the 1 3/16-mile Preakness on May 17. He’ll try to become the 12th horse to sweep the Triple Crown, one of the sporting world’s rarest feats. I absolutely love ABC’s “5 Things to Know Before the 146th Belmont Stakes.”

Thursday June 12th:

2014 FIFA World Cup:

Ole Ole Ole Oleeeee! It’s the 2014 FIFA World Cup! That’s right, time for some futbol. It all kicks off Thursday with the home team, Brazil, taking on Croatia.  You can keep up with the schedule here.

The US Open in Golf starts on Thursday as well and continues through the weekend. Set in Pinehurst, NC, you can watch the best try to take down defending champ Justin Rose. Here is the schedule.

If you’re into college baseball, then make sure you tune in to watch the NCAA College World Series which starts on June 14th.  Teams are still battling for a spot in these series.
