The draft happened a couple weeks back and I will tell you, I’ve never been more excited about a draft class. Well, more excited than I have been. I love to refer to the NFL Draft as Dreams Come True Weekend cause seriously, dreams come true. I mean did we see the way Mac Jones walked out after hearing his name called? I felt as though in his head, he was screaming and repeatedly like, “Stay cool bro, you’ve practiced this since you were 8”. It honestly was the best. Not to mention so many other players’ reactions that made me smile and giggle.

In all honesty, I love watching these kids get drafted no matter what school they come from. It’s a huge accomplishment and pay day for all of the blood, sweat and sacrifices they’ve made since middle school or peewee football. This can be said for any sport – basketball, baseball, softball – whatever the highest level, that’s a reward in itself.

ANYWAY, let’s get down to my actual thoughts on the draft. Where do I begin?

Reaction

Okay, if you listen to the show, you know I have an issue with all the quarterbacks. I feel as though there are so many quarterbacks out there and the fact that the first three picks were all quarterbacks, well, okay. Now, yes, Jacksonville needed a quarterback and obviously Trevor Lawrence is THAT guy. But can I just say that I joked with Sharon while watching that, what if Urban Meyer actually pulled an okey doke, and went let me have my kid back and drafters Justin Fields instead? How wild would that be? Obviously that wasn’t really going to happen. I only said it cause the crazy had already started with Aaron Rodgers announced he had no intentions of playing in Green Bay is 2021. Wait, WHAT?! What is happening with that? How did we get here? That’s another conversation for another time.

Okay overall, I’m pretty pleased about how the first round played out. Initially, I was not thrilled about Justin Fields going to Chicago – I would’ve loved to see him in Denver, but I mean…who knows, right? I just hope he sees the field sooner rather than later. That was my only concern; that he wouldn’t play. But other than that, I’m excited for Jaylen Hurts all the way around. I’m also interested to see how the Patriots do this season. They basically went on a shopping spree during Free Agency, and now that they’ve added Mac Jones behind Cam Newton so THAT is going to be exciting especially for the long term. For my and Sharon’s full thoughts on the picks we watched together, listen to the most recent episode.

Headlines I Am Ready to See Play Out

Aaron Rodgers’ Young and the Restless saga, Does Jaylen Hurts Start in Philly?, Tua Era Officially Begins, Deshaun Watson vs Houston Texans, Cleveland Browns Super Bowl Bound, Arizona Cardinals NFC Champs.

Yes BRING. IT. ON.

I can’t wait to see what these rookies do. It will be exciting to watch and hopefully I’ll get around to more NFL stadiums this season. A little sneak peek: my goal is to get to four NFL game and three NCAAF games. These will all be stadiums and teams new to the blog. Gotta beef up the travel guides for you all. I have an idea of where I might be going, but If you have any suggestions as to what teams I hit up, please drop a comment below or leave a note on a IG post.
