All the bacon on game day! I think bacon is synonymous with snacks, and if the game day snacks don’t have bacon on them, I don’t want them! Game Day means all the food and cheering on your favorite team to victory. As a girl that lives for game day, I can tell you some of my favorite appetizers are made with bacon. Let’s be honest, bacon makes everything better. You know I’m right. With conference championships and Bowl season among us, some of us may be gathering in small groups to root for the home team and you know wha that means: you need the recipes to pull together your favorite game day treats for your homegate. I’ll give you a hint, you will need bacon. And no, I will never run out of bacon, or get sick of it.

Bacon Crackers (An Old Fave)

Depending on your crowd you will want to use an entire box of Club crackers. This old faithful recipe has been popular at bridal and baby showers, but you want to make enough cause, y’all, it’s so good and your guests will eat them up. I promise.

Ingredients: Club crackers, bacon, brown sugar (or grated parmesan for a different flavor)

Switch out the brown sugar for parmesan cheese for a different vibe!
  • Heat the oven to 250°F.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
  • Place crackers on a wire rack set into a lined baking sheet. (Leave a little space in between the crackers for the bacon, as it will hang over the edges of the crackers.)
  • Slice the bacon into thirds (depending on the length and shape of your crackers). Place a piece of cut bacon around each cracker. Or you can just place the bacon on the cracker lengthwise, it’s all preference.
  • Top bacon with teaspoon of brown sugar. I like to put brown sugar under and over the bacon for extra sweetness!
  • Sprinkle a generous amount of brown sugar mixture on top of the bacon-topped crackers (about 1 heaping teaspoon per cracker).
  • Bake 2 hours or until brown sugar begins to melt and bacon becomes crisp. Allow crackers to cool on wire rack before eating. I would definitely check on them every ten minutes after the hour mark. I end up pulling them out around 90 minutes. This time can increase or decrease depending on your oven and altitude.

Bacon Ricotta Crostini (for my classy Brats)

Another quickie you’re more sophisticated guests will enjoy!

Ingredients: French Baguette, Ricotta cheese, bacon, honey

  • Slice French bread and toast. You can also crisp up in the oven (or put it on the grill!)
  • Top your baguette slices with ricotta cheese and chopped bacon.
  • Drizzle with honey.
  • Sweet, savory and done!
