I don\u2019t know if I should admit this or not. Here goes. I spent $345 dollars on Starbucks from October 1, 2020 \u2013 January 1, 2021. I don\u2019t even want to look at what the total was for 2020. Considering I would like to think I cut back on Starbucks during October to January, I can only imagine the amount that I spent in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of my 2021 resolutions was to start saving money, and be a little smarter with what I am spending my money on. I am challenging myself in 2021 to really cut back on things that will lead to additional benefits. I want to start with my morning coffee runs to Starbucks because, that seems to be the one thing that leads to additional downfalls and I\u2019ve narrowed it down to 3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Excess Spending:<\/strong> I spent an unnecessary amount of money in the Starbucks drive thru. Like, UNREAL. I realize that sometimes you just wanna grab a quick coffee with a friend or just have a little treat every now and then. And yes, I will do that too. I did it today! I didn’t say I was cutting out Starbucks completely, just during the week. Besides my yearly total at Starbucks was a bit wild.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Heavy Calorie Intake:<\/strong> I love a venti peppermint white chocolate mocha with a blueberry muffin. Did you know that is the equivalent of 1400 calories? Y\u2019all! Starbucks coffees are insanely caloric and high on WW<\/a> points (I\u2019m currently working the Blue plan, I\u2019ll let you know how that goes). This was enough to make me quit. I love the blueberry muffins so much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cut Time Off My Work Commute:<\/strong> I know this is basic and seems miniscule. What if I told you I drove in the opposite direction to go to Starbucks three – sometimes four – times a week? Yeah, there\u2019s that, too. I drive half a mile in the wrong direction to spend 10-12 dollars on coffee and a pastry. While that doesn\u2019t seem all that bad, we all know the Starbucks lines can be long, and you do a small dance in the driver\u2019s seat when there is no line. Imagine when the line has 6 cars. That\u2019s an estimated 10 minutes added on to my commute, and let me be honest, I\u2019m never getting up on time to leave early to account for those ten extra minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you made it this far, I will give you the total for my 2020 Starbucks YTD: $750. On coffee. And pastries. Ridiculous. That\u2019s a new handbag. And before you ask, yes I went through every bank statement and calculated all of the gold card reloads. Seven hundred and fifty. Sheesh. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
