I feel like I have been running a constant marathon since January 2025. So much so, I realized I never actually fully explained how I switched careers in November 2025. If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I worked as an English and Journalism teacher for a public high school. For 16 years, I taught, coached swimming and diving with a short stint in girls basketball and advised yearbook and broadcasting on the high school level. Behind the scenes, I completed a master’s degree in technical communication and began another (and almost done) in strategic communication and digital strategy. I always wanted to work in communications somehow. Back in college, I truly believed that I would be the next Andy Sachs. I was sadly mistaken on the ease of finding those kinds of jobs, but I also knew I wanted to work in sports somehow (hello blogging!). Long story short. Back in November, I accepted a position in my same school district as a communications coordinator. I left the classroom.
Grad school and my new position quickly took over, and my presence here at TSB was starting to become muddy. With my running content (can we call it that?) becoming more frequent, I was starting to become a little confused myself about what I am doing here. I’ve always known that TSB was my favorite creative outlet. The travel, the game day experiences, and the conversations online have always been fun for me, and most importantly, I love it. I’ve missed it, to be honest with you. But the truth is, a lot of this is expensive. It cost a lot of money to be outside! In this economy?! Now, I have been very fortunate to have been hosted for many things over the years, but for transparency, the majority of my travel and experiences has been self-funded. While it can be financially draining, the plus side is I can be fully transparent and unbiased when doing a full review of a stadium, experience, etc. There’s pros and cons here, and I work with them.
I’m approaching 40 (I Know!!!!) and who I am has evolved since I first came along back in 2018. Can you believe it’s been almost 8 years already? Where has the time gone? While looking back I’ve noticed my preferences have changed. I like day games and not night games. I love sneakers at the game and not heels and wedges. One thing, though, has remained the same, and that is I love the game day experience. I’m excited to clear the table this fall and bring back what we all know and love, and that’s game day. But with my own evolution comes sharing the lifestyle of sports: sporty style for the office, fitness, recovery, and everything that falls in between. I am so grateful to those of you who have stuck around.
This summer I will be featuring my progress on my 20 by 40, gearing up for football season, and chronicling my New York City Marathon journey. I partnered with Women’s Sports Foundation and am raising $5000 to benefit the advancement of opportunity for women and girls in sports. If you feel led to donate, please visit my fundraising page. All donations go directly to WSF. There’s more on this to come later.
Well, I think you’re up to date. I’m sorry it has been crazy – the story of my life. I saw a friend last week and she said, “what have you been up to? Or actually what have you not been up to? How are you standing?” I will be the first to admit that I am the worst kind of ADHD, but I’m so excited for the back half of 2026 and 2027. Oh, and by the way 2028…is looking real good. If you can think of big events happening in the sports world in 2028, just know that yes, I will be there. Happy Game Day, y’all.
