Studio Workouts. Love them or hate them, they are very popular and every time I turn around a new studio is popping up. I know the masses are setting up their home gyms with the influx of home workout programs since COVID-19 hit, but I know many are still going to their studio workouts. While I have quit the gym, and utilize my Peloton and trainer to the max, I have been missing the studio classes I would take. I know I have gym rats that follow me, but many of you also are big fans of studio classes as well. Here are 5 popular classes I’ve loved, and didn’t love, but they are all worth a try. Hey, not everything is for everyone

Soul Cycle – In the realm of cycling classes, Soul Cycle is at the top of my class choice. To be completely frank, if I didn’t live so far from a Soul studio and the classes and packages weren’t as pricey, I probably wouldn’t own a Peloton. But that’s not the case. Soul Cycle is what got me to love cycling classes. Combine the pulsing music, dark room, and motivating instructor and you have an incredible – and sweaty – experience. Orange Theory Fitness – I have tried Orange Theory on multiple occasions, and while I love the weights part, and the cardio part, I don’t like them together. Everyone does the rowing machine, the treadmill and strength. The thing is I like all three of the workouts individually. I’m a huge weight training girl, so naturally I should love this. My competitive nature has me gassed by the time I hit strength, cause I’m trying to kill it on the tread and rower so I can get more splat points. I won’t deny this is a great workout, but it wasn’t for me. If Orange Theory sounds like it’s up your alley, click here to find a location near you!

SPENGA – Okay, a girlfriend of mine took me to a SPENGA class and I loved it. It was a much different pace. Like Orange Theory, there are three parts. Unlike Orange Theory, you start with spin, move to strength, and end on the floor for a stretch. Each segment is 15 minutes. You get your warm up on the bike, get your strength on and slow it down with a flow. SPENGA is definitely a great workout, and I really love the format. Give it a try!

Pure Barre – Pure Barre was the first studio class I think I ever took, way back when. I think this is why I stopped doing studio classes for a while. For me personally, I needed to feel like I worked out. Despite having a background in dance, this workout wasn’t it for me. Personally it was just too slow. If you like slow and controlled movements that lengthen your muscles, this one if definitely for you. I won’t knock it too much, because it is definitely a great workout – you will be sore!  Try it out today!

Lagree/Reformer Pilates – Okay contrary to Pure Barre’s slowness, this where I really fell for studio workouts. So yes, reformer pilates is slow, but the workout is intense, and I love it! This is one of those studio workouts that I highly recommend. I go to HIP Fitness in the Houston-area; however there are many reformer studios out there. Find one nearest you and give it a try. You won’t regret it. If you’re local and want to try HIP, click here to find your nearest location.

There ya have it – my 5 studio workouts that I recommend. Of course not all of them worked out for me, but they are great workouts. Not everything fits everyone’s needs so you have to do what’s best for you. Is there a studio or workout I’ve missed that you love, that I should try?
