It has been a year. A crazy one at that. Everything I said I was going to do, didn’t happen. Or maybe it did and it didn’t go as expected. But that’s fine. Things happen for a reason.

At the beginning of 2024 I said I was going to get back into blogging more. I think I posted here on the web, twice. I ran the Wine and Dine Challenge as planned. I went to Norman, as planned. But not a lot of other things went as planned. That’s okay.

That’s okay. 2025 is going to be a big year here at The Sports Brat – I can feel it. It’s going to be a big year in my life as well. Let me catch you up on a few things.

I’m headed back to the University of Oklahoma. I told myself in July that I wanted to make a career change. I wasn’t doing with my life, what I had intended to do and that is work in communications – doing communications. I love teaching journalism, don’t get me wrong. But I know I belong doing what I’m teaching teenagers to do. So, enter my love of all time, OU and their Strategic Communication and Digital Strategy master’s program. I applied, and a little over a week later I was accepted. It was a very quick process. **Quick background: My undergrad from OU is in Communication, I have an MS in Technical Communication from Arizona State, and now I’m getting a third degree because I love school and don’t think you can ever have too many degrees. If you want it, go get it.** I am much looking forward in learning more about crisis communication and brand strategy.

Crisis Communication and Brand Strategy are the two directions I am most considering right now. Obviously they are vastly different but that final decision is for me to figure out over the next year and a half.

I know you’re wondering, okay so what about TSB? Nothing is changing. But I am asking you to be patient. There are lots of things planned for 2025. More college football, more NBA, more off season travel. How that gets disseminated may change, however. You may see some long form content creation (YouTube?!), more game day style, and day in the life Reels.

I’m ready for 2025. I’m grateful for each one of you who have been with me since 2018, and those of you who have been here since the very beginning with Jess. Happy New Year. See you in 2025!
