The Sports Brat: What’s your go-to style for days off?

Ted Ligety:  I am a jeans and t-shirt type of guy. If I have to get dressed up I usually wear a flannel or plaid button down. Comfort is the most important part of my wardrobe.

TSB: Who has been the biggest influence on your life?

TL: My parents have always supported me no matter what choices I have made in my life decisions. They were hard workers growing up and I think seeing that helped me with my work ethic too.

TSB: What is the strangest thing you believed as a child?

TL: My grandpa would always dress up as Santa Claus and I thought he was the real thing until I was probably 4.

TSB: What is one guilty pleasure you enjoy too much to give up?

TL: If I had it my way I would eat ice cream every night.

TSB: What do you think about more than anything else?

TL: Skiing, it’s consumes a lot of my thoughts and time.

TSB: What’s something that amazes you?

TL: Traveling to outer space and life on other planets.

TSB: What’s one thing you’d rather pay someone to do than do yourself? Why?

TL: Clean my dirty dishes because I like to cook, but never want to clean.

TSB: What position do you sleep in?

TL: I prefer to sleep on my stomach, but because I am getting old it hurts my back and I have to sleep on my side now.

TSB: What’s your all-time favorite town or city? Why?

TL: Park City because it is where I was born and raised and has the best skiing in the world in the winter and the best mountain biking in the summer. It’s the best of both worlds for me.

TSB: What are the top three qualities that draw you to someone new?

TL: Humor, Intelligence and the ability to laugh at yourself and not take things too seriously…maybe looks in there too!

TSB: If you had to change your first name, what would you change it to?

TL: Split aka Ligety Split…it would be good to be a ski racer with that one!

TSB: What is the best advice you’ve received?

TL: In terms of skiing, it would be don’t overthink things and let your body do what it knows how to do.

TSB: What’s the one thing you cannot leave your house without?

TL: My calculator watch, just because it is always on my wrist.

TSB: What can always cheer you up?

TL: My brother Charly.
